Three ninth grade students at Paloma Valley High School in Menifee were suspended Monday, Oct. 21,  after they punched a teacher, a school district official said.

No serious injuries resulted, but the teacher was not back in the classroom Tuesday, said Candace Reines, deputy superintendent of the Perris Union High School District.

The altercation began with the three boys arguing with one of their teachers during the second lunch period in an outdoor area. The altercation escalated into a fight in which the students threw punches, Reines said.

Parents and employees were informed of the incident, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department took a report, she said.

“It’s concerning to us when something like this occurs because the safety of the students and our staff is always our top priority,” Reines said.
