Over 8,200 marijuana plants were seized by the Upland Police Department during a raid on Tuesday.

Upland Police Department Chief Darren Goodman said on social media that the illegal marijuana grow was using stolen electricity as well as illegally disposing hazardous waste.

The grow was in the 500 block of North Mountain Avenue in Upland.

Capt. Marcello Blanco with the Upland Police Department said a San Gabriel man, Yongliang Huang, was arrested on suspicion of growing more than six plants. Information on Huang’s age was not immediately available.

Blanco said the location searched was not a commercial grow operation.

“We’re still trying to get confirmation on whether the electricity was stolen from Southern California Edison, or from surrounding residences and businesses,” Blanco said.
