Armed male dies in deputy-involved shooting in Lake Elsinore – San Bernardino Sun

A male who was brandishing a weapon and refused to drop it was shot and fatally injured in a confrontation with Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies in Lake Elsinore on Saturday evening, the Sheriff’s Department said.

No deputies were injured in the incident, the Sheriff’s Department said on social media.

Deputies were called at 5:22 p.m. to the 3000 block of Ash Street regarding a male brandishing a weapon.

“Deputies contacted the armed male, gave commands to drop (the) weapon, suspect refused, resulting in a” deputy-involved shooting, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene and homicide investigators were called to investigate.

The age and identifying information of the person shot was not immediately released; and the type of weapon he had also was not immediately specified.
