The City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department will close Boulder Falls west of the city starting as early as Monday, July 8, to complete additional trail-related repairs in the area.

While OSMP completed significant repairs to the Boulder Falls Trail last year and was able to reopen it to the public, there are several necessary remaining repairs that will help to improve visitor experiences in the area. These repairs will build on what the department completed following the 2013 floods and will include the installation of railing along the entire length of the trail, stair construction and some fence installation in the area.

This closure is planned to continue through Sept. 6 – weather permitting. Because of ongoing road construction in Boulder Canyon, OSMP encourages visitors to access the department’s interactive trail map and to regularly check the Colorado Department of Transportation’s website before visiting city open space locations accessible from Boulder Canyon, including Boulder Falls and Chapman Drive.
