Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks Department is recruting volunteer trail guides to assist visitors and monitor the vast trail system.

Trail guides make a monthly commitment to hike open space routes and play a role in fostering responsible and enjoyable outdoor experiences, a city news release stated.

Volunteers will be asked to provide visitors information on the city’s 155-mile open space trail system, the department’s diverse wildlife and plant habitats and the lands’ cultural history and the rules meant to keep open space visitors safe on trails and promote responsible recreation and protect important natural resources.

Learn more about the required trail guide training and complete an application at bit.ly/OSMPtrailguide. Volunteers need to be committed to fulfilling reporting requirements for what they see on open space and what they hear from visitors, the release stated.
