About

Marisaface, usually called “Kanjuden Marisa” (Japanese: 紺珠伝魔理沙) or “KanMarisa” (紺魔理沙) on the Japanese web, refers to a glassy look by Marisa Kirisame in the 15th title in the Touhou Project series “Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom” (東方紺珠伝, Touhou Kanjuden). Since late 2015, her weird facial expression has been a subject for parodies on the Japanese anonymous imageboard community Futaba Channel (2chan), and she also became to appear on 4chan as well.

Origin

This Marisa’s face was drawn by the creator ZUN, which made the first public appearance in LoLK’s demo version released at Touhou-dedicated convention Reitaisai 12 on May 10th, 2015.

Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil Ten Desires Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream clothing fictional character cartoon mythical creature anime costume

ZUN’s illustrations, given the nickname “ZUN-style Illustration” (ZUN絵, ZUN E) by Touhou fans, are known amongst fans for its odd art style and unstable touch where the same characters can have quite different looks in each titles. To distinguise them, there is a manner among the fans to call the characters together with each title’s name. In accordance with the 15th title, Touhou Kanjuden, this Marisa became to be called “Kanjuden Marisa” or “KanMarisa”.

Spread

Shortly after the release, Kanjuden Marisa’s weird facial expression was brought up to a topic among Touhou fans. Particularly, she was much featured on /55/ (Alt-Touhou) in 2chan, where the board users already started creating parody photo collages of emotional facial expressions by “ShinMarisa”, Marisa in “Urban Legend in Limbo” (東方深秘録, Touhou Shinpiroku) which was also released at that Reitaisai. Kanjuden Marisa has also joined onto the stream and a lot of parody photo montages of her soulless facial expression became to be generated on /55/ and other 2chan boards. Through the parodies, she got her own personalities: speaking in “-Je” (じぇ) suffix and often associated with the line “Who the heck are you?” (誰だお前, Dareda Omae). Those 2chan’s works and manners are sometimes shared on the outside of the imageboard via Matome blogs, controversial blog sites which thieves posts and contents from anonymous communities for earning advertising revenues. Besides, tens of illustrations featuring Kanjuden Marisa are also uploaded to illustrators communities Pixiv and Nico Nico Seiga.

Marisaface spread the Touhou western fandom around 2016 in 4chan /jp/.

Official Merchandise

On December 22th, 2016, Team Shanghai Alice released the 2nd edition of official Touhou character stickers for an instant messaging application LINE. This edition picked up Kanjuden Marisa with that facial expression and the iconic line “Who the Heck Are You” (shown below). This was designed by ZUN himeself and reflected fans’ similar joke which was circulating on Twitter and other social newtworking services.

The name “Don’t Dead Open Inside” is based on a promotional poster for The Walking Dead TV series which features one of the most recognized examples of the trope in popular culture.

Origin

The shot of the character was taken from a scene in the film “The Iron Giant”, which was released in August 6th, 1999. The image since then has been modified and used as a reaction image. Over the years, many images, which include various characters from different franchises, were created based on this picture, all of which include the character holding a mug of coffee and usually having the same facial expression as Dean in the film.

One of the more notable variations features a representation of a Warhammer 40K Space Marine from Blood Raven chapter. Because of the fact that, in universe, they are represented as tech-hoarders, in each different version of the image the Space Marine holds a different mug.

NEKOPARA Nekopara Fault Milestone Two Don't Starve human hair color anime mangaka black hair

About

Nekopara is a kinetic visual novel by doujin artist Sayori based on a hentai doujin by the same artist and released on December 29th, 2014. The novel follows main protagonist Minaduki Kashou as he moves out of his parents’ place to start a patisserie while taking care of his two pet catgirls, Chocola and Vanilla. Following its release, the game’s appeal and use of an E-mote System managed to gain a lot of praise on Steam and other sites.

History

Nekopara is based on a hentai doujin titled Neko Para (shown below) by doujin artist Sayori, which was first released on August 11th, 2013. Although the doujin was released in 2013, Sayori already created original character content of the title’s due, Chocola and Vanilla, as early as 2008, with the earliest tracable piece on the English being found on Danbooru from April 15th of that year. However, the main website of Sayori’s studio, Neko Works, was already created in February 2003, making it unclear when the characters were first created.

On November 11th, 2014, an unannounced trial version of Nekopara was released to the public. The next month, on December 29th of that year, the complete version of the game was released and made available for purchase. Although the main site featured the complete game, other areas, such as Valve’s Steam store, only offered a version with the explicit content removed.

Gameplay

Nekopara focusses on main protagonist Minaduki Kashou and the catgirl heroines Chocola and Vanilla. Kashou finds himself forced to take care of Chocola and Vanilla right as he plans to start a patisserie. To do this he gets the help of his sister and their four other pet catgirls. Nekopara is a kinetic visual novel, making it different from the average visual novel in that it offers no choices to the player and thus has only one possible outcome where Kashou gets into a relationship with both Chocola and Vanilla.

Reception

Following its release, the game was met with a large amount of praise. 3 weeks after the release, the game had a positive feedback of 97% out of more than 1,500 reviews on Steam. Gametactics gave the game a score of 7.3/10 and HardcoreGamer reviewed it at 3.5/5. The game stands at a Metacritic score of 7.5 as of January 19th, 2015. The doujin also has a score of 7.58/10 on MyAnimeList and more than 3,200 favorites on Fakku.

A game feature that was quickly made fun of was the “chest bounciness” option made available through the game’s E-Mote system (shown below), which allowed its players to determine how often the chests of the female cast would bounce.

Prior and after the game’s release, fanart of the characters was already shared on image sharing websites. The game features more than 40, 55 and 70 images on Danbooru, DeviantArt and Zerobchan respectively as of January 19th, 2015, although most of these images are official artworks such as CG art and wallpapers. About

WOW! HOT a What Baabhabhiat is an exploitable comic series using a page from a pornographic Indian webcomic, which is known for its Engrish dialogue.

Origin

The comic page originates from the Savita Bhabhi series of pornographic comics, originally hosted on the Indian pornographic website savitabhabhi.com. The comic was subsequently moved to the subscription-based site kirtu.com.. According to notes on Kirtu, the comic was last updated on March 29th, 2008. The exploitable itself originates from the first page of the first comic in the series, titled “Savita Bhabhi – Episode 1: Bra Salesman,” in which a door-to-door bra salesman meets lead character Savita after ringing the door at a house (shown below).
