A woman died and four others were sent to the hospital with varying degrees of injury after a three-vehicle crash in Riverside on Tuesday evening.
The crash happened on Main Street, north of Garner Road, just after 6 p.m. when a Kia Sorrento was heading south on Main Street and crossed into the northbound lanes, then crashed into a commercial vehicle heading north, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Police in a statement said the Kia also hit a Nissan Cube after crashing into the commercial vehicle.
The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old woman from Colton, was transported to the Riverside Community Hospital, where she died of her injuries, police said. Four juvenile passengers in the Kia were sent to Loma Linda Hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to severe.
All the passengers in the Kia were expected to survive, police officials said in a statement.
“The drivers of the commercial vehicle and the Nissan were uninjured,” police said.
The Colton woman’s identity will be released once the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau finishes its investigation. Police said the cause of the crash was under investigation as well.
