An 86-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized Saturday afternoon following a bike-and car-crash on the Diagonal Highway.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Colo.119 and Monarch Road, just before 1 p.m., according to Corp. Ivan Alvarado of the the Colorado State Patrol.

A Silver Dodge SUV driven by a 69-year-old man hit the bicycle, Alvarado said. The cyclist was taken to Boulder Community Health for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Details as to how the two came into contact, and what directions the two were headed, were not available late Saturday, according to Alvarado. He did note that the driver of the car was cited, but did not specify the offense.
