WESH 2 News is learning more about the former Orlando police officer who arrested two 6-year-olds at school.Officer Dennis Turner was let go earlier this week after news of the arrests over temper tantrums were made public. In the police report that Turner filed against one of the students, he claimed a school staff member wanted to press charges.The arrest affidavit for the 6-year-old girl listed her height as 3 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 80 pounds and that she was born in 2013.The 6-year-old is accused, in the document, of battering three staff members at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy, allegedly kicking and punching them. A staff member was quoted as being one of the people hit and says in the report she wants to press charges and testify in court against the child.But that’s not what the school or the staff member is saying now. That person is now saying they never wanted to press charges, and certainly didn’t want the girl arrested. “We care about the well-being of our students. The officer’s statements are inaccurate. We did not ask for either student to be arrested, neither did we want to pursue criminal charges,” a spokesperson for the school said.The girl was one of two 6-year-olds arrested that day at the school.Turner’s record is now in the spotlight after his firing. It includes an internal affairs investigation that resulted in a written reprimand, after he Tased a man five times, including twice once the man was on the ground. Another incident was recorded in which he allegedly texted his ex-wife, saying, “can’t wait ‘til that cancer kills you.”Turner is now off the force, and the chief of police is apologizing to the families of the 6-year-olds who were arrested at school.
