Man hit by car after pushing fiancée to safety

A Texas woman planned to marry the love of her life in less than one year.But a tragic accident has changed Stephanie Thompson’s life, she told KTRK.Thompson and her fiancée, Deven Custer, were on their normal evening bike ride.Custer heard a car approaching the couple from behind. The 27-year-old pushed his fiancée out of the way to safety.According to KTRK, after pushing Thompson out of the way, Custer was hit and killed by the car.”I don’t know how I can ever go on without him,” Thompson said.”He was my rock, my rock, and I’m going miss him so, so, much,” his mother, Tracie Custer, said.The news outlet reports the driver stayed at the scene until police arrived. According to authorities, the driver did not show signs of impairment.Police said Custer was wearing dark-colored clothes. His bike did not have lights or a reflector on it.”He loved with his whole heart. He showed it every single day. He was so selfless and he always put me first,” Thompson said.Police are investigating.
