A 10-year-old boy died Thursday afternoon when a utility task vehicle tipped over in farm field in unincorporated Boulder County, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred in the 3000 block of North 63rd Street. The Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call at 4:42 p.m. Thursday about the crash and a child in medical distress.

Authorities determined the boy died of his injuries at the scene. There were four other young children who also were riding in the UTV, one of whom was driving. The other four children were not injured in the crash.

The Colorado State Patrol is assisting with diagramming the scene and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and Boulder County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident.

The name of the child is being withheld, pending notification to the entire family. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is responsible for investigating and determining the manner and cause of death.

Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, personnel from the Boulder Rural Fire Department, EMS personnel from American Medical Response and troopers from the Colorado State Patrol responded to the location to give aid.
