Tippin, a Twitter tipping service which makes use of the lightning Network for micro Bitcoin payments announced the launch of its services for both iOS and Android devices. Tippin will be launching an alpha Android version for public testing later this week, along with a promise that the iOS version will be launched “soon”

The announcement came through their official Twiter handle which also attached demo video showing how easily users can tip in Bitcoin on Twitter via their Android devices. The app comes with a mobile Lightning Network-enabled wallet as well.

Although Lightning network has always been at the receiving end of critics for its technical complications, it has great support from the community including the Twitter CEO.

Tippin started out as a browser extension back in February 2019 as a personal project from Spanish architect and designer Sergio Abril. The Bitcoin tipping service garnered huge popularity right after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted about it, and in no time its user base swelled to 14,000. With this launch on mobile devices, users can now tip people on Twitter in micro Bitcoin payments from their mobile devices.

2019 has seen a growing trend of tipping services for mainstream social media and content sharing platform, as Brave browser also announced the integration of its tipping services through native utility token BAT on Twitter.
