2 young teens shot, 1 fatally, Monday night on Far South Side

A 15-year-old boy was fatally wounded and a 14-year-old boy was left in serous condition Monday night after both were shot while walking in the Roseland neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 10 p.m., the young teens were walking in the 100 block of West 104th Place when shots were fired. The oldest boy was discovered near an alley with wounds to the head and back. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

He was identified as Jimmie Lee Goodwin, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The second teen who was shot in the shoulder and suffered a graze wound to the head, was taken in serious condition to Comer Children’s Hospital.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
