Authorities are searching the Mt. Baldy area for a 72-year-old Lakewood man who went missing this week.
His family last heard from him on Monday when he told them he was headed to Mt. Baldy for a hike, as he frequently did, authorities said. He never made it home that day.
Deputies and search and rescue teams began their search for the 72-year-old, whose name was not released, on Thursday in the Mt. Baldy area, said Lt. Mark Skaggs with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas station.
Teams found the Lakewood resident’s car unattended and parked in Mt. Baldy Village at 6680 Bear Canyon Road, Skaggs said.
Both ground crews and helicopter units continued their search for the Lakewood man Friday, suspending it at sunset, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Leonard Hayes. Crews will resume their search at daybreak on Saturday.
