The Alabama softball team came into Saturday with a 1-1 record in the Clearwater Invitational. The Tide picked up two more wins on Saturday against No. 20 UCF and Indiana.
The first game went into extra innings, but the Tide came away with a 6-5 victory over the Knights. Alabama was led offensively by Ally Shipman and Kali Heivilin. The two combined to have three hits and four runs batted in. Freshman Kristen White delivered the game-winner with a line-drive single to center field.
Super-senior Montana Fouts provided 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. She struck out seven batters while allowing no hits.
The Tide made it look easy in the day’s second game with a 10-0 victory against the Hoosiers.
Alabama had 14 hits and was led by Shipman, White, and senior Jenna Johnson. The three combined to have three hits and five runs batted in.
Alabama will face Florida State in their final game of the Clearwater Invitational. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m….
