AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Alex Babbington completed his high jump finals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, June 9 from Mike A. Myers Stadium. He placed 14th overall on a height of 2.11m (6-11).

This is the highest an Illini men’s high jumper has finished since the current school record holder, Jonathan Wells, placed 13th [2.08m (6-9 3/4)] at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Babbington concludes his final and best season yet in the Orange and Blue. He cleared the program’s fourth highest height, 2.14m (7-0 1/4), at the NCAA West Preliminaries to earn this spot in the national finals. With the qualification, he became the first Illinois high jumper to advance to the finals since Wells in 2021.
