The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has identified the partial remains found following the Marshall Fire as Robert Sharpe, 69, one of the two people reported missing following the fire.

The remains were found in the 5900 block of Marshall Road in unincorporated Boulder County, one of two areas where investigators were searching for people reported missing after the fire.

According to a release issued Friday, Sharpe was identified based on “DNA analysis and scene circumstances.”

The coroner’s office will now conduct an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Sharpe was one of the two people reported missing, which means only one person remains missing at this time.

The investigation into the second missing person, who has been identified by family as Nadine Turnbull, in the 1500 block of S. 76th Street in Superior remains ongoing.

The Marshall Fire burned more than 6,000 acres and destroyed at least 1,000 homes after starting in east Boulder County on Dec. 30.
