Three Corona residents were arrested after they fled in a car from sheriff’s deputies investigating a vehicle burglary after a chase from Lake Elsinore to the county area of Temescal Valley, where they abandoned the car after driving off the road.

A photo of the arrest scene shows the car in a vale between two hills, barely visible in the brush, at the end of Spanish Hills Drive. The trio was arrested Tuesday,  Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Javier Morando said in a news release.

The chase began just after 2 p.m. after deputies were called on the report of a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of The Outlets at Lake Elsinore at 17660 Collier Ave.

Deputies were given a description of the suspect’s car, and it was spotted it in the parking lot of the Walmart at 21700 Grape St., also in Lake Elsinore. The car took off when deputies tried to pull it over, the release said.

When the car stopped between the two hills, the three people inside left it and ran. They were arrested after deputies surrounded the area and used SWAT deputies and K9 units, Morando said.

Adam Hastings, 34, was charged with felony evading arrest and burglary; court records Thursday afternoon did not show his plea. He is out of custody on bond.

Still in custodyThursday was Enrique Serrato, 34, who pleaded not guilty to felony burglary, and Josephine Frljuckic, 33, who also pleaded not guilty to felony burglary.

All three defendants have prior criminal cases with convictions in Riverside County Superior Court; Frljuckic has a probation violation hearing scheduled for Dec. 3.
