Colorado State Patrol investigators say a Texas driver crossed the center line while driving on Colo. 66 Thursday night, causing a three-car crash.

The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. at the 38-milemarker of Colo. 66 near Terry Drive.

While it was initially reported as a four-vehicle crash Thursday, Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Gary Cutler said the crash involved three vehicles but that one of them was towing a trailer.

According to Cutler, a 40-year-old man from Houston was driving a 2021 Jeep east on Colo. 66 when he swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a Nissan Rogue and a Dodge Ram towing a trailer, before rolling the vehicle over.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while a passenger in the Dodge Ram was not injured.

The crash caused a four-hour closure before traffic was reopened about 10 p.m.

Cutler said at this time investigators do not suspect speed, drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. The case remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
