Erie Board of Trustees recently held a retreat to discuss its top priorities for 2020 and beyond.

The board held its retreat on May 15 and 16 and discussed key areas on which to focus.

According to the retreat documents, the focus areas include expanding attractive community amenities, fostering an engaged and diverse community, investing for a prosperous economy, enhancing transportation infrastructure and maintaining a small-town feeling.

The board and town staff focused on projects which will help drive each objective.

SProjects include: expanding outdoor recreation opportunities to provide safe options during the pandemic; improve communication and outreach efforts; develop a plan to double the sales tax revenue over the next four years; plan and start construction of traffic/infrastructure improvements; work with Boulder and Weld Counties to set up a local testing, contact tracing and isolation plan that is effective and responsive; execute the sustainability master plan and minimize budget and health impacts.

“While navigating the current pandemic has our immediate energy, the board remains focused on executing a sound long-term strategic plan to continue the positive trajectory of our amazing community,” said Mayor Jennifer Carroll.
