Kersey Miller (Boulder County Sheriff’s Office)

Erie police were able to locate and arrest a man accused of assault and tossing a Molotov cocktail at a home during a crime spree last week.

Kersey Miller, 29, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree arson, aggravated motor vehicle theft, vehicular eluding, possession of an incendiary device, third-degree assault, trespassing, reckless driving and driving without a valid license.

Police issued a news release Wednesday asking for the public’s help in locating Miller. A release announcing his arrest did not say how or where police located him.

Miller was booked into the Weld County Jail and will be charged in Weld District Court, according to court records.

According to the release, Miller is accused of damaging a vehicle in the Erie Highlands area with a high-powered pellet or BB gun on May 15.

Police said Miller then assaulted another man near the Erie Post Office, 150 Wells St., on Saturday. That same man then told police he woke up to a loud bang and a fire caused by a Molotov cocktail being thrown at his home in Old Town.

Miller fled in a stolen vehicle, which was recovered Tuesday in Lafayette.

Miller has a controlled substance case and a harassment case pending in Boulder District Court, according to court records.
