A Longmont action and networking group will join a national effort Saturday to demand gun safety action.
The rally is planned as part of the nationwide March for Our Lives, scheduled to take place in more than 300 communities. The march comes in response to “countless mass shootings and instances of gun violence in our communities,” according to the March for Our Lives website.
Longmont Progressive Builders will host their local march from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., starting at Sixth Avenue and Main Street. Participants will then march to the Civic Center at 350 Kimbark St. Those attending are encouraged to bring “signs, noise and friends,” according to the Longmont group’s news release.
The first March for Our Lives took place in 2018, following the mass shooting in Parkland, Fla. Among the marches planned for Saturday is a rally in Washington, D.C.
The Longmont event is free and open to the public. Those who want to participate are asked to register at: bit.ly/3MuiSCm. To learn more, visit Longmont Progress Builder’s Facebook page at: facebook.com/LongmontProgressiveBuilders.
