A Massachusetts man was killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 in Tolland on Monday afternoon, according to the Connecticut State Police.

A Mercedes-Benz was traveling in front of a tractor-trailer on I-84 East just before Exit 69 in Tolland just after 1:15 p.m. on Monday when the Mercedes-Benz driver, identified as Stephen Gharabegian, 59 of Lexington, Massachusetts, lost control of his vehicle, state police said. The tractor-trailer struck the Mercedes-Benz on the driver’s side and the Mercedes-Benz became stuck under the trailer portion of the truck.

The Mercedes-Benz driver was transported to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead, state police said. The tractor-trailer driver, a 50-year-old Virginia man, was not injured in the crash, according to state police.
