Erie this week will initiate traffic delays just east of the intersection of Erie Parkway and Powers Street as the Department of Public Works installs a pipeline across the street and into Erie Community Park.

The construction will occur through Friday, the Erie Department of Public Works announced in a news release. Traffic on Erie Parkway will be redirected from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, although the news release noted that construction may continue until 5 p.m. and detours and cones will be left standing overnight.

On Tuesday, a single eastbound lane will remain open. Wednesday through Friday, single lanes will be open for both westbound and eastbound traffic. Erie officials said that weather permitting, they hope the project will be completed by 4:30 p.m. Friday.

According to the news release, the Department of Public Works advised motorists on Erie Parkway to use caution.

“Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to be aware of construction traffic and pay close attention to traffic control signs, reduce speeds and, if possible, avoid the construction area during work hours.”
