Waterbury police have arrested a man in connection with a reported attempted armed home invasion, according to police.

Police received information that a suspect was attempting to force entry into a home on Valentino Drive with a firearm while the family was inside. Officers responded to the scene and collected evidence, they said.

While patrolling the surrounding area, police found a man walking back to a disabled vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved and later confirmed its involvement in the attempted home invasion, police said.

Police identified the man as Wayne Early, 36. He was arrested after police found two firearms and other items of “evidentiary value” involved in the home invasion attempt.

Early was charged with criminal attempt at home invasion and numerous weapons charges. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Early has been previously convicted making him ineligible to own a handgun or pistol, according to state statutes.

Police are currently working to obtain “numerous other arrest warrants for Early regarding his involvement in several other armed robbery incidents,” Waterbury police said.
