TUSCALOOSA — As coach Bruce Pearl sat down to start his news conference following Auburn basketball’s devastating overtime loss to No. 2 Alabama on Wednesday, he uttered something that’s unequivocally true.

“Boy, these kids have been through an awful lot,” Pearl said.

The Tigers (19-11, 9-8 SEC) are now 3-8 in their last 11 games, with five of those losses coming by five or fewer points. Auburn fell on what was nearly a buzzer-beater against Vanderbilt on Feb. 18, but the defeat the Tigers suffered against the Crimson Tide on Wednesday cut the deepest.
