Hi Pedro, would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, my name is Pedro Cerqueira, aka Gordoletters. I have been on the road for over 8 years.

When did you start tattooing and how would you define your style?
I did a traditional apprenticeship, and a bit more… hard to explain in a nutshell. I started my apprenticeship in 2008, and even if I started tattooing in every style, I early understood that I could make a difference through calligraphy and lettering. And than I got bored, so I started to go on a new direction, some weird detour that helps me to create whatever I do. At this point I would define it as a detour.

Did it change over time?
Yes, it did. I started as calligraphy, and now is nothing! It changed a lot. It’s funny, one of the reasons I stared not to write anymore, was my clients arriving at the appointment, and when I asked them “What do you wanna write?” they would answer “Nothing! I just want your thing”… So I just started to go 100% abstract, and now people ask me if I can write something.

Besides tattooing, is painting and drawing also important for you?
Yes, it is. I like to experiment, so I create on many different medias. Such as canvas or paper, wood or metal. And all of them help me on the others. Tattooing is for sure my favorite, and my life. There is nothing that makes me feel like tattooing, for some reason, when I tattoo I feel like I really do something, like I really offer society something… For everything else, I always feel a bit guilty.
