Police remind residents that all other use of fireworks is illegal

Associates of WK Real Estate, the City of Boulder and the University of Colorado Boulder are once again proud to invite the community to enjoy a safe and spectacular Fourth of July event.

The annual Fourth of July fireworks show, Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast, is free to the public and will take place at Folsom Field on Thursday, July 4. Come early to see Ralphie on the plaza and enjoy live music by Card Catalog, PRO-LEISURE and the School of Rock. Gates open at 7:45 p.m.

The free fireworks shuttle service to Folsom Field will begin at 6:30 p.m. and leave from Canyon Boulevard between 29th and 30th streets (just south of Century Theater). Both HOP and Buff buses will be used for the shuttle service.

After the fireworks show until approximately 10:45 p.m., both the shuttle service and looping HOP buses will run on an as-needed basis to get riders safely to their destinations. All return buses will board at the southeast corner of Colorado Avenue and Folsom Street (by the Engineering Plaza). The buses will drop off passengers at the Twenty-Ninth Street Mall near the Century Theater parking structure.

Boulder police would also like to remind residents and visitors to Boulder that it is illegal to use or possess any fireworks within the city limits. Police will have increased patrols with officers looking for this type of activity during the holiday week. Citations will be issued, and fireworks will be confiscated.

Residents are encouraged to report fireworks violations as soon as they see them by calling the non-emergency number for Dispatch, which is 303-441-3333. Please call 9-1-1 if the fireworks call is an emergency or if there is a fire. A location and description of the individual or individuals with the fireworks will help officers respond effectively.
