SĀO PAULO, Brazil–The University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball team will be traveling on a 13-day tour of Brazil (May 27-June 8) to play a series of matches in four different cities.

The trip will be an invaluable learning experience for the Rainbow Wahine and include cultural excursions, some sightseeing in addition to the matches.

The Rainbow Wahine will arrive in Sāo Paulo where they will stay three days and play a match on May 29. The ‘Bows will then bus to Rio de Janeiro where they will reside the next three days and play a match on June 1. On June 3, UH will bus to Saquarerma, where the Brazil national team’s training center is, for two days and  match on June 3rd. Hawai’i will conclude their Brazil tour in Arraial do Cabo for the final two days.

Among the sights the ‘Bows will see are the Fiera da Praca Benedicto Calixto (Open Market), Christ the Redeemer in Rio, Pao de Azucar (Sugarloaf Mountain), and will end in Arraial deo Cabo which is known for its white sand beaches.

“This trip is a time to bond, play some really great matches, and take that experience into this coming season,” says head coach Robyn Ah Mow. “I loved playing there (with the U.S. National team). It’s kind of like Hawai’i where the fans are crazy for volleyball. It will be a great experience for the girls culturally wise and obviously the talent there is some of the best in the world. We are excited to go!”

It is the first international trip under Ah Mow for the Rainbow Wahine. Former head coach Dave Shoji took the Rainbow Wahine on a European tour of four countries in 2015.
