Wonder Woman 1984, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman which grossed over 800 million dollars worldwide, has finally got a release and distribution date. The movie will debut on 25th December, Christmas Day, in cinemas in the US and in streaming on the channel HBO Max.

The film directed by Patty Jenkins (which has been ready since 2018) will actually come out nine days earlier – on 16th December – in cinemas in Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, the United Kingdom and Portugal, but there is no doubt that greatest impact on box office earnings will be from cinema-goers and home viewing in the United States.

In terms of plot, this new superhero movie (produced by Warner Bros set in the middle of the 1980s and the Cold War) sees Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) face up to some terrible new enemies: Max Lord (Pedro Pascal) and The Cheetah (a puma-woman played by Kristen Wiig). The cast also includes Chris Pine in the role of Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.

The star of the movie Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins spoke up on social media once the news came out that the release date would be Christmas Day: “The moment has arrived.
