The City of Boulder will host its annual Bus to Work Day, Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

This year, the event has expanded to regional partners, including City and County of Denver, Boulder County, Colorado Department of Transportation, RTD, Boulder Transportation Connections and Commuting Solutions, covering a larger area than previous years. The focus is to encourage new riders and celebrate those who commute on the bus.

Bus to Work Day supports Boulder’s Transportation Master Plan (TMP) goal of decreasing emissions through reduced single occupancy auto trips and vehicle miles traveled. With nearly 30% of Boulder’s emissions coming from transportation, City Council’s recent adoption of the 2019 TMP underscores the city’s commitment to addressing the climate crisis. The TMP aims to reduce transportation-related emissions by 50% by 2030.

“Taking the bus to work even once a week can make a real difference in reducing congestion and greenhouse gas emissions,” said Allison Crump, transportation planner and frequent bus rider. “Plus, it can be a lot more relaxing and is often cost- and time-competitive with driving alone.”

The city will hold events at Downtown Boulder Station and Table Mesa Eastbound Station, Oct. 15 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. A limited number of free local and regional bus tickets will be available, and bus riders can enjoy free coffee and commuter swag.
