Boulder police investigating an unattended death

On Friday, May 31, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Boulder police were notified that an unresponsive man with a bicycle was laying on the roadway in front of the Diagonal Plaza, located at 2972 Iris Ave. A witness did not see the crash but found the victim in the roadway unconscious. When police arrived, the man was not breathing. Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful.

The deceased is described as an eighty-year-old white male wearing a bicycle helmet, long-sleeve white shirt and dark pants. The bicycle was red.

It is believed that that man was riding his bicycle eastbound, rode over a speed hump, lost control and crashed. There is no indication, at this time, that any other vehicle was involved in the crash, however the incident is being investigated by the Boulder Police Department Traffic Unit.  Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Richard Smith at 720-438-5408.
