HONOLULU – The Hawai’i soccer team announced its 15-match 2023 regular season schedule Monday, highlighted by an eight-match home slate at the Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Complex.

After an opening exhibition match against Houston Christian on Aug. 13, the Rainbow Wahine will host a tournament to open the regular season, taking on 2022 WAC champions Utah Valley on Aug. 17 and Gonzaga on Aug. 20. UH will then play Sacramento State at home on Aug. 24 before hitting the road for matches at Air Force on Aug. 31 and at UNLV on Sept. 3.
The Rainbow Wahine then return home to open conference play vs. CSUN on Sept. 14 before heading back on the road to take on Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 21) and UC Riverside (Sept. 24). Following the first conference road trip, Hawai’i comes back to Waipi’o to host UC San Diego on Sept. 28 and last year’s Big West Tournament champion and Sweet Sixteen team UC Irvine on Oct. 1.
UH continues its conference schedule with a trip to play at CSU Bakersfield on Oct. 5 and UC Davis on Oct. 8 before the final home weekend against UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 19 and Senior Night on Oct. 22 vs. Cal Poly. The Rainbow Wahine then wrap up the regular season on the road at Long Beach State on Oct. 26.
Hawai’i will return 19 players from last year’s team in 2023, highlighted by four all-conference selections and nine starters. Big West All-Freshman honoree Amber Gilbert and league honorable mention selection Krista Peterson return while Kelci Sumida is back for her fifth year to lead the Rainbow Wahine front line attack. First-team All-Big West selection Eliza Ammendolia will also be back for her fifth season while second-team all-league honoree Jacey Jicha will anchor the back line.
