In his lone season with Chiba, he helped the team set a new league record with 53 regular-season wins, including 24 straight. The Jets captured the Emperor’s Cup and eventually advanced to the B-League finals.

Prior to that, Kelley was a graduate assistant at Memphis for two seasons. In his first season, the Tigers claimed the 2021 NIT championship. The following season, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight years, earning a No. 9 seed.

“Cody is a rising star,” Ganot said. “Throughout his young career, he’s achieved in every way on and off the court. It’s an approach that has led him to great success as a student-athlete and it’s transferred into his coaching. He’s been a part of excellent teams, learned from some terrific coaches and also has international experience. He’ll be a terrific mentor to our student-athletes and we’re excited to have him join our ‘ohana.”

Kelley is a former standout point guard who appeared in more than 100 career games on the collegiate level. He began his playing career at Wyoming where he started in 24 games spanning two seasons and helped the Cowboys capture the 2017 CBI postseason title. He then transferred to South Dakota for his final two seasons. He was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team in 2018-19 and was the team captain and starting point guard for the Coyote’s 20-win team in 2019-20.
