Man in custody on Boulder shooting connected to Lafayette attempted …

A man who was charged in connection with a shooting at Boulder’s Millennium Harvest House in late February now faces new charges in connection with an attempted homicide from earlier that month in Lafayette.

Antonio Lucero, 45, is facing charges of felony attempted first-degree murder – extreme indifference, attempted first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree assault, possession of weapon by previous offender, and menacing with a deadly weapon.

Lucero is also facing misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.

At 1:51 p.m. Feb. 7, the Lafayette Police Department was dispatched to Lafayette Gardens mobile home park, 11700 E. South Boulder Road, on a report of a shooting that had just taken place.

Officers located a man outside of a mobile home with a single gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid and the victim was transported to a local hospital.

Lucero was said to have fled the scene on foot. But after an “extensive investigation,” Lafayette police applied for a warrant for Lucero on Wednesday, according to a release.

Lucero’s bond in the Lafayette case was set at $500,000, but he is already in custody in connection with the Millennium Harvest House case on a $200,000 bond.

In that case, dispatchers received reports of shots fired and a possible active shooter on Feb. 20 at the Millennium Harvest House, 1345 28th St.

Lucero was identified as the suspect and was apprehended. He was charged with four felony counts and two misdemeanor counts.

According to online court records, Lucero was found incompetent to proceed and is undergoing treatment. He is set for a review hearing on Aug. 3.
