The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the UAB Blazers without All-SEC pass rusher Mykel Williams. Williams was a late addition to Georgia’s injury report with an illness.
Georgia prevailed 49-21 over UAB. The Georgia defense was a little bit more porous than expected against the Blazers. The Bulldogs recorded just one sack against UAB and certainly miss Mykel Williams. Additionally, Georgia was without All-SEC safety Javon Bullard, who is one of the leaders of the Bulldog defense.
Mykel Williams is Georgia’s best pass rusher. The Bulldogs have an inexperienced group of outside linebackers, so they need production out of Williams.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart updated Williams’ status and why he missed the UAB game.
He’s sick. We hope to get him back next week. I hate it but he’s a really good player. We expect him to be back next week.
Georgia’s next game will be Sept. 30 on the road against the Auburn Tigers. The Bulldogs are hoping Mykel Williams can return for the Auburn game.
