No. 1 Georgia will travel to Auburn this week for the first road test of the season. Auburn is always one of the toughest places to play in the SEC.
First-year Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze got a Kirby Smart history lesson today in his game-week press conference.
Freeze didn’t know that Smart took the Bulldogs to the national championship game in his second season in Athens (2017). A reporter corrected Freeze when he said that Georgia made it to the national championship after three or four years under Kirby Smart.
“He did it pretty fast then,” Freeze said. “That’s pretty impressive, it’s even more impressive.”
Smart made SEC history with the win over UAB on Saturday, becoming the winningest head coach in conference history through 100 games as head coach (85 wins).
