Gas prices continue to fall toward $3 a gallon mark

Gas prices have fallen by about a dime a gallon during the past week despite world tensions and plans by oil producers to cut back.

There are now thousands of gas stations selling regular below $3 a gallon and even a few that have dipped below $2,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “We still need to watch global events for the effect on oil prices, but for now, drivers will benefit from falling prices with every visit to the pump.”

Three dollar a gallon gas is also available in Delaware, although the First State has fallen off of AAA list of the 10 states with the lowest gas prices.

Sussex County had the lowest gas prices among the state’s three counties. Again, membership clubs – Sam’s, Costco and BJ’s posted prices below $3 a gallon.

Timeframe Regular Mid-Grade Premium Diesel
Current Avg. $3.099 $3.638 $3.942 $4.261
Yesterday Avg. $3.101 $3.643 $3.947 $4.260
Week Ago Avg. $3.188 $3.722 $4.028 $4.297
Month Ago Avg. $3.337 $3.887 $4.154 $4.294
Year Ago Avg. $3.758 $4.174 $4.475 $5.654
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand decreased slightly from 8.86 to 8.7 million barrels a day.

Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks remained flat at 223.5 million barrels. Lower gas demand, alongside declining oil prices, has continued to push pump prices down.

If the price of crude oil remains low, drivers can expect to see further price drops.
