The Guild of NH Woodworkers present a demonstration from 2005 by Janet Collins. Sand shading is a technique for lightly singeing the edges of inlay pieces, to create a sense of shadow and three dimensionality.
This video is not “studio quality.” It was recorded under “shop conditions” with all the variables you might expect. And it was taped with a single camera, so the angle of view is not always perfect. Please enjoy this for what it is, and learn from the generous master craftspeople and experts who offered these presentations.
