EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A fire broke out at a tank farm around 12:50 PM, primarily affecting the pipe rack.
The incident occurred during a fuel transfer between tanks at the facility. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but the fire took approximately 45 minutes to bring under control.
Due to issues with the fire protection system on-site, additional assistance was requested from neighboring departments and agencies. Mutual aid was provided by the New Haven, Branford, and Guilford Fire Departments, as well as the Connecticut State Police Fire Investigative Unit and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, led by the East Haven Deputy Fire Marshal in collaboration with the East Haven Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit.
