A CHASE customer was left scratching their head trying to retrieve their money.

The user shared their dilemma on Facebook, explaining how they opened an account with JPMorgan Chase in February.

On February 12, they said they initiated a transfer of $8,000 from their HardRock Bet app.

They noted how they lived in Florida, meaning the gambling app was legal.

Once they made the transfer, the bank closed their account.

“My funds have been locked up in that account since then,” the user wrote.

They said they’re still waiting for about $5,000 to get mailed to their address.

CHASING CASH

While they’ve called Chase every week, they’ve been continuously told that the bank is waiting for information from the sender.

They tried faxing documents over to prove they were sending money to themselves to no avail.

The user even went to their local Chase branch and sent the documents to the accounts department.

But when they called the bank to check in, they were told no documents were received.

“In about six weeks, I have called at least four times a week as well as visited Chase branches in person, and still no resolution,” the user wrote.

When their account first closed, they were told they’d be mailed a check with their remaining balance in seven to ten business days.

Yet that threshold has passed, and the user is still out $5,000.

“I don’t think any of the customer service agents have any clue what’s actually going on,” they wrote.

JPMorgan Chase did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun.

Reasons why a credit card account gets closed

According to Chase, there are several reasons why a customer’s bank account gets shuttered without notice:

  • Inactivity – if the account hasn’t been used for a certain period
  • Fraudulent activity – suspicious withdrawals or suspected theft
  • Over-limit fees – if a customer makes a transaction larger than the amount of money available in their account
  • Credit score – if a client had a significant drop in their credit score
  • Delinquency – if payments have been consistently missed

Chase suggests calling the issuer to inquire about reopening if an account is closed. The client may be asked to provide information such as name, address, and Social Security number.

Another Chase client said his bank account closed two days after he opened it.

He had $700 in the account and couldn’t access it for over a month.

The user also shared his dilemma on Facebook, explaining how he couldn’t afford to pay for his transportation expenses.

He also was worried about being unable to cover his rent in time.
