GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — Flames racing through the dry underbrush of Gulf State Park could be a scary sight, but in this case, it is a good thing.

Forty acres along the northern shore of Lake Shelby and near the cabins took only a few hours to burn. When the day started, Rickey Fields with Alabama Forestry said a much bigger fire was planned.
