Boulder police are trying to figure out what happened last month to a woman who might have been assaulted but had gaps in her memory of the night.
According to a release, a 19-year-old woman showed up at Boulder Community Health’s Foothills Hospital on Aug. 28. The woman had a memory gap that lasted several hours, but she believed she may have been assaulted or pepper sprayed earlier that morning.
An exam was done and police are waiting on lab reports to determine if the woman was sexually assaulted or ingested anything to account for the memory loss.
The woman told police she was walking home overnight after drinking with friends but got lost and disoriented. She was able to call a friend for help, but they were unable to guide her by phone.
Her friends went out to look for her, but at the time they were only able to find her cellphone and one shoe near the roadway where they had tracked their phone.
Police believe the woman was in the area of 10th Street and Cascade Avenue at 12:30 a.m., and then Broadway and Alpine Avenue at 2:39 a.m. The woman then woke up in a stranger’s apartment in the area of Broadway and Cedar Avenue at 7 a.m. Police do not believe anyone in the apartment had any interaction with the woman before they found her in the morning. It’s not clear how the woman entered the apartment.
Police say the woman is white, 5-feet 6-inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes weighing 115 pounds. She was wearing a black hoodie, shorts and flip flops at the time.
Anyone who may have seen or had contact with this woman on Aug. 28 is asked to call Boulder police Detective Darren Fladung at 303-441-4484.
