No charges will be filed against the driver of an SUV involved in a Sept. 19 crash in the southwest crosswalk at Arapahoe Avenue and Marine and 38th streets that caused a bicyclist to become trapped under the vehicle, Boulder police announced Thursday.

After an investigation, police determined the cyclist, who sustained a broken foot was at fault for the crash, according to department spokeswoman Shannon Aulabaugh. The cyclist also was not cited.

The day after the crash, another collision at Folsom Street near its intersection with Bluff Street, sent a 29-year-old cyclist to the hospital. That crash occurred when a gray 2016 Land Rover SUV southbound on Folsom collided with the cyclist.

“Initial observations are that the car driver was southbound on Folsom and failed to negotiate the curve at Bluff and went into the northbound lanes and struck the bike rider who was northbound,” Boulder police Sgt. Jim Macpherson said last week.
