The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drowning near Balmy Beach Drive.Authorities said the victim had gone fishing with another person, who is also missing.All afternoon and into Thursday night, Seminole County’s underwater search team combed through lake near Semoran Boulevard looking for a second missing boater.Investigators said it all started when someone called in a suspicious blue SUV parked at Border Lake’s shore, close to Apopka.When deputies got there around 2:30 p.m., they noticed the truck was abandoned and later found a dead man in the lake.They took the body to shore in an airboat. The Sheriff’s Office said the victim often went fishing with a friend.That information caused the underwater search team divers to look for a second body around a partially-sunken canoe. They did not find anything.We still don’t know how or why the victim drowned, medical examiners spent hours studying the recovered body.A few people who work nearby said they saw the abandoned SUV Thursday morning.The Sheriff’s Office said they packed up Thursday night and will resume the search for a possible second victim, Friday morning.
