The first of three starting flights in the $1,100 no-limit hold’em Card Player Poker Tour Bicycle Hotel & Casino $500,000 guaranteed main event is in the books and Daniel Mijac finished the night leading the 27 players that secured a spot in the Day 2 field.

Day 1A kicked off on Thursday morning and drew 107 entries. With the field scheduled to play down to the final 25 percent, the 27 players that survived the more than 13 levels will return on Sunday at noon to play down to a final table.

Mijac finished the day with 219,000 in chips and is only one of two players with more than 200,000 in chips. Xiao Ruan is the other, who finished Day 1A second in chips with 201,000. Nathan Bjerno (191,000), Li Ping Zhong (187,000) and Ira Friedman (183,000) round out the top five Day 1A chip stacks.

WPT Champion Matt SalsbergOther notables to make it through the day include William Wolf (158,000), Matt Salsberg (148,500), Jason Bral (131,500), Peter Neff (127,000), Danny Illingworth (120,000), Joe Serock (116,000), Pete Hengsakul (76,500), Jared Griener (75,500) and Sohale Khalili (65,000).

The 107 entries generated $107,000 towards the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool with two more starting flights yet to get underway. Players who didn’t survive Thursday’s flight have another chance to put chips in a bag on Friday’s Day 1B or Saturday’s Day 1C.

The final two starting flights will follow the same structure as Day 1A. The field will play 40-minute levels for the entirety of the day, registration will close at the start of level 10 and play will stop when 25 percent of the field remains.

Players also have the option to take advantage of the Quantum structure and buy directly into Day 2 for $4,300 and receive 120,000 in chips. Levels on Day 2 will be increased to 50 minutes and blinds will start at 1,000-2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante.
