The $3,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha six-max event at the 2019 World Series Of Poker drew a field of 835 players, down slightly from the 901 in 2018 when Ronald Keijzer scored a win for Amsterdam.

This year’s edition of the tournament was won by New York native and Las Vegas-based poker pro Alan Sternberg, who picked up his first career bracelet and the $448,392 first-place prize.

Sternberg was down entering the final table, but kept his composure as he waited for the right opportunity to chip up.

“The main thing on my mind coming in was to make sure I got to fourth,” Sternberg told WSOP reporters. “When we got down to four, I started getting hit in the face with the deck. I made the best hand over and over again.”

Sternberg more than doubled his WSOP earnings with the win, but has already found success on the World Poker Tour. In 2011, he won the Bay 101 Shooting Star main event for $1,039,000, and finished second in the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown for $491,081.

Last year, he finished third in a WSOP $5,000 no-limit hold’em event, and he also owns two WSOP Circuit rings. In total, the 33-year-old has nearly $2.5 million in career tournament earnings.

In addition to the money, Sternberg also earned 1,368 Card Player Player of the Year points for his win. The POY is sponsored by Global Poker.

Other notables to make a deep run in the tournament included Joseph Cheong (6th), Joao Vieira (7th), Juha Helppi (11th), Brandon Shack-Harris (12th), Noah Schwartz (16th), Nacho Barbero (19th), David Paredes (20th), Brant Hale (23rd), David Williams (26th), and Keith Lehr (34th).

Here is a look at the final table results.
