Storm Lake Community School District says goodbye to Corbet Butler, band director at the high school since August 2019. 

Alta-Aurelia readers will remember him as their high school band director from 2012-2019.

The 2011 Buena Vista University graduate is moving to the Ankeny area this summer. “I don’t have a job lined up yet, but I am planning on teaching band somewhere next school year,” he said.

Always a good sport for a photo, in 2020 Corbet modeled a mask through which one could play a brass instrument.

Northwest Iowa High School Band Teacher of the Year in 2022.

Among Butler’s accomplishments was being named Northwest Iowa High School Band Teacher of the Year in 2022. His Alta-Aurelia jazz band won state in Class 2A in 2014.
