The Alabama Department of Corrections says that an inmate who escaped in south Alabama is back in custody Sunday.Officials say Christopher Ivy Bates, 34, surrendered peacefully to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office at 2 p.m. in Mobile.He has been missing since leaving his work release assignment in Gulf Shores around 10:41 a.m. on Sept. 13 and changing out of his uniform into unknown clothing.
