HONOLULU — University of Hawai’i junior Milan Bukovics was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming and Diving Male Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following his performances at the season-opening USC Invitational on Oct. 13 and 14 in Los Angeles.
Bukovics, a junior from Budapest, Hungary, turned in two NCAA Division-I Top-15 swims during the meet to earn his first MPSF weekly award. He won the 400 Individual Medley in a personal best 3 minutes, 50.69 seconds, the 10th fastest time in the nation this season and the third best in program history. His previous best in the event was 3:51.69 set last November.
Bukovics also finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.76, which ranks 15th in the country, and placed third in the 200 fly with a time of 1:47.44.
The Rainbow Warriors next compete in the SMU Invitational set for Nov. 15-18 in Dallas, Texas.
